Promotion of Inclusion

BrochureOne of the most effective ways of promoting the inclusion agenda is to ensure that mainstream teachers have the skills to meet the needs of a variety of pupils, particularly those with special educational needs who might otherwise find themselves in special schools. The effectiveness of the training offered by OnlineInset, as a result of feedback from colleagues in the 12 local authorities and organisations who have been delivering the package for some years, is well documented. We certainly know from the regular, embedded, feedback we receive that our training has a knock-on effect on attitudes to accepting some of the more challenging pupils in mainstream schools, and that this in turn prompts schools to use existing resources more effectively rather than demanding more.

When OnlineInset is deployed strategically across schools it not only impacts on attitudes but is also extremely cost-effective, and can reach large numbers of staff in a relatively short time scale. Management information of this type, together with a great deal more, is available to our strategic leads at all times through the learning management system (LMS). Many local authorities have achieved a cost neutral position by charging schools relatively modest sums for delivery. For more information please contact info@onlineinset.net.

Onlineinset courses support Wave 2 and 3 interventions in school, and as such build on any materials available through the Inclusion Development Programme (IDP) at Wave 1. Courses which are available include:

  1. Understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
  2. Inclusion for pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
  3. Understanding and Managing Behaviour
  4. Understanding Hearing Impairment.
  5. Understanding Visual Impairment.
  6. Motor Co-ordination Difficulties.
  7. Dyslexia (October 2010)

Local Authorities, schools, and other organisations can gain access to the developing range of courses through subscription. All participating organisations will have the opportunity to play a part in the further development of Onlineinset. To DOWNLOAD a PDF version of our brochure click here.
