Parents who demand your time
Some parents demand an inordinate (unreasonable) amount of your time to discuss their child.
When you realise that you are dealing with such a parent, set some limits:
Listen actively to the complaints and worries, and then negotiate an action plan to address the main issues within YOUR remit, including review arrangements - Clarify (revisit) your remit and set appropriate limits
- Identify a time each week (e.g. 3.00 till 5.00 Thursday afternoons) when you are available to parents
- Follow the good practice described earlier for meetings
