More recently a Government Select Committee into Special Educational Needs heard of the lack of parental confidence in the SEN system and the Lamb Inquiry was set up in 2008 to consider how that confidence might be increased.  The availability and quality of information for and about SEN from schools and local authorities has been highlighted as one of the fundamental areas requiring improvement.  (www.dcsf.gov.uk/lambinquiry)
